The True North Tour

The True North Tour was designed as a way to stimulate the local economy through the arts and cultural endeavers. The tour takes place mainly during the month of June and contains 3-4 bands that travel between Butte, Tehama, Trinitiy and Shast Counties. The main objective of the True North Tour is to create a stronger bond between the North State art communities and to create greater awareness of the arts and cultural as econimic stimulous opportunities. Specific goals are:

1. To encourage cooperation and coordinated programming between Northern California arts councils, which are funded, in part, by the California Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. This type of coordination will create a higher degree of awareness of CAC and the NEA in the 2nd Congressional District - something desperately needed in this vast northern region of the state, covering 11,539 square miles. It will also create higher visibility and understanding of California arts councils, in general.

2. To encourage citizens to enjoy live performance of gifted musicians who are either from our Northern California counties and perform nationally or who perform nationally and live or work in our region.

3. To encourage economic expansion through arts and culture by employing musicians, renting venues and/or providing new audience for venue locations thus increasing business.
